Christmas Leftovers

Happy New Year!

In December, I was commissioned to do a couple of paintings for clients who wanted to give them to their significant others for Christmas. Oddly enough, both commissions involved dogs, so I learned a lot about dog breeds and anatomy as I scoured hundreds of photos of them on the internet. Now that Christmas has past, I think it is safe for me to post images of the paintings without spoiling anyone’s Christmas surprise!

This client wanted a watercolor painting involving her Corgi, a Jedi cloak, and a lightsaber, to give to her boyfriend as a gift. She also wanted her cat and rat included. So, I made a movie poster-esque watercolor and ink illustration of the Corgi as Obi Wan Kenobi (Obi Wan WOULD be a corgi, of all dogs…perhaps?), the cat as a sand person, and the rat as….well, you can see for yourself:

This was SO much fun to make!

My other client wanted a portrait of his two dogs to give to his wife for Christmas. (This one is done in acrylic):Lil_&_Mav

As you can see, it was a rather dog-ful season.

After I finished those, I finally got around to doing that illustration of my niece in her Halloween costume that I promised I’d share with you a while back. I made a print of it and sent it to my sister for Christmas.

What a superb butterfly (in yellow Wellies, no less) she makes, indeed!

That’s all for now, but don’t stay away for too long! 2014 is going to bring great things, and I don’t want you to miss them.
